Miss Universe 2008 contestants were in Ho Chi Minh City, Hanoi and Nha Trang, Vietnam to compete for the popular beauty pageant.

President of the Miss Universe Organization Ms Paula Mary Shugart said "In selecting Vietnam as the host country we were impressed by many factors. It is a beautiful country which will be a most spectacular backdrop for a global telecast.. This is the largest event of its kind ever to be hosted in Vietnam and will have a special significance for viewers and fans in the United States. But while Vietnam is a country with a rich culture and thousands of years of history, it is not a country focused on its past, it is a country very much focused on its future, and what a bright future it is."

2008 Miss Universe Winner - The winner of the Miss Universe competition in 2008 is Miss Venezuela Dayana Mendoza.

2008 Miss Universe Crown - See the Miss Universe crown for 2008 made by CAO Fine Jewellery of Vietnam. The much sought after pageant crown is valued at $120,000.
