The Forbes highest earning dead celebrities list has measured
the earning power of famous people still bringing in the millions
from their grave. It is a somewhat morbid kind of list to compile,
but being close to Halloween somehow excuses Forbes for such a
list.. Oh, and there's 13 celebs on the list.
Those on the dead celebs list can't really release new material
from the grave, but their royalties and rights to use their work
or images can still earn them more than many celebrities still
living! When films about them are released or new compilations
of music are put on shelves their earning can skyrocket, but the
usual few mega-celebrities remain steady on the list.
Elvis Presley is popular year in and year out, giving him the
number one position comfortably with $45 million in earnings for
the year. While the Beetles singer John Lennon continues to bring
in the millions from his song royalties and Lennon merchandise,
with his widow Yoko Ono controlling the $22 million for the year.
The famous pop artist Andy Warhol that once said "Death means
a lot of money, honey. Death can really make you look like a star"
was absolutely correct. He came in fourth on the list with earnings
of $16 million. The Andy Warhol Foundation is continuing on with
Warhol's business savvy, selling countless reproductions, merchandise
and several original Warhols.
Here's the lucky 13 according to the Forbes business magazine's
