| In 2005 the most powerful celebrity in the world, as measured by the Forbes business magazine is the Talk Show queen Oprah Winfrey. Winfrey often appears towards the top of the power list each year, but this is her first time at the very top. Her long running daytime talkshow has been on the air for more than 21 years and is aired in 112 countries, with a weekly audience in the United States of around 30 million every week. Oprah Winfrey earned an estimated $225 million for the year, with only the director of the Star Wars movies George Lucas surpassing her earnings with $290 million. Mel Gibson moved down from his number one position last year on the celebrity list, to position 3 this year. The release of his "Passion of the Christ" movie to DVD and video has boosted the actor/director's earnings, raking in an estimated $185 million for the past 12 months. The famous American Golfer Tiger Woods came in second on the list. Woods earned $87 million, had 48,467 press clips and had 431 TV or radio appearances.
