Elle Macpherson was born on the 29th of March, 1964. Macpherson
was one of the first "Supermodels" along with other
models like Cindy
Crawford and Naomi Campbell. She has appeared in several movies
and television programs, and is a very successful business woman.
Elle Macpherson's birthplace was Killara, a suburb of Sydney Australia.
She was born Eleanor Gow and changed her lastname to that of her
stepfather's (MacPherson) after her parents divorced while in
her teens. Macpherson began studying pre-law at the University
of Sydney and completed just one year of study.
Macpherson was discovered while skiing on the mountains in the
state of Colorado in the United States. The Click modeling agency
in New York signed her up and Elle's law ambitions quickly took
a back seat.
Her first big success was her appearances in the fashion and entertainment
magazine ELLE for six straight years. She then went on to grace
the cover of the popular Sports Illustrated magazine for a record
4 times. Elle Macpherson took advantage of her Supermodel status
and appeared in exercise videos, swimsuit calendars, countless
magazine shoots, and modeling shows.
Aware of the short lifespan of a model, even though her modeling
career has lasted much longer than most, she has also pursued
other interests to keep her going after modeling. Elle Macpherson
has appeared in several movies since her first brief walk in acting
appearance on the Woody Allen film "Alice" in 1990.
Other films include "Sirens" the film of the Australian
artist Norman Lindsay, where she had to put on 20 lb.. for the
role, "Batman and Robin", and "Jane Eyre".
She has also appeared on popular television programs like "Friends"
and "Saturday Night Live".
She is also very successful financially and is one Australia's
richest people. She has business
interests in the Fashion Cafe Restaurant and has her own range
of lingerie called "Elle Macpherson Intimates".
Elle Macpherson has two children with her long time partner Arpade
"Arki" Busson but the couple separated in 2005. Her
sons are called Arpad Flynn Alexander Busson and Aurelius Cy Andrea
Busson.
