Johnny Depp was born on the 9th of June, 1963 as "John Christopher Depp". Depp was born in Owensboro, Kentucky, USA and was brought up in Miramar, Florida. The Depp family moved house many times. Johnny Depp left school at the age of 15, around the same time as his parents were divorced and separated.

Johnny Depp had ambitions of being in a rock band and started a group called the Kids after he left school. The band were successful around their local area and opened for singer Iggy Pop, but Depp became involved with acting while being in Los Angeles. The first film that Johnny Depp appeared in was "A Nightmare On Elm Street" where he played the part of Glen Lantz.

Depp's first major success was his role in the popular TV "21 Jump Street" where he played the role of Police Officer Tom Hanson. In 1990 Depp achieved much praise for his role in the film "Edward Scissorhands".
