Samuel L. Jackson was born on the 21st of December, 1948 as "Samuel Leroy Jackson". Sam Jackson started to become popular after his role in the Spike Lee film, Jungle Fever in 1991 where he played a crack addict. In 1996 he played the role of Jules in Quentin Tarantino's classic film "Pulp Fiction" where he was a dirty mouthed hitman with a philosophical edge. Not only did he earn himself a Oscar nomination for best supporting actor, but he also rocketed himself into Superstar status. His career took off and was able to command large acting fees for films, including $USD10 million for the movie "Shaft" in 2000.

Samuel L. Jackson was born in Washington, D.C and grew up in Tennessee. Jackson suffered from a stutter while growing up and was advised by a speech therapist to audition in a play, which subsequently cured him of his stutter and set his career path for him.

Samuel Jackson is a classically trained thespian actor. He struggled to make it for many years, only playing small roles in films. Jackson has been nicknamed "the King of Cool" and his role as Jules in Pulp Fiction was voted the 2nd coolest movie character of all time by the Empire Magazine in the United Kingdom.

The films he has appeared in have grossed more box office money than any other actor in the history of movies. As of January 2005, Samuel L. Jackson has acted in films that have brought in more than $3US Billion worldwide.

Sam Jackson married his partner and fellow actor La Tanya Richardson in 1980. They have a daughter, Zoe, born in 1982
