Tom Cruise was born on the 3rd of July, 1962 as "Thomas
Cruise Mapother IV".
Tom Cruise was the only son of four siblings. His upbringing
was unsettled with his family living in various locations throughout
the United States and Canada.
When Tom Cruise was younger he briefly studied at a Franciscan
seminary where he had ambitions of becoming a priest. It was
during high school in New Jersey that Cruise found his love
for acting and then abandoned his ambitions of becoming a priest.
The first movie Tom Cruise played in was in 1981 where he played
in a small part in "Endless Love". In 1983 Cruise
achieved his first success with the movie "Risky Business".
He then went on to establish himself as a major actor in the
80s with starring roles in popular movies like "Top Gun"
(1986) and "Rain Man" (1988).
